It’s difficult to describe my professional path without including my personal experience, in particular the learning gained through living and working in different countries. First-hand experience of these transitions has been an important influence on my personal and professional journey.

As a Certified Job and Career Transition coach, I believe that lifelong learning not only enriches our lives, but is increasingly essential for career success. Today’s lifestyles and the dynamic nature of the world of work challenge us to adapt and change, sometimes more often that we choose or expect.

The Start…

I began my professional life as a trainee nurse in Dublin, Ireland, and worked as a registered nurse and midwife  in Scotland and New Zealand. During my nursing career I had the privilege of working with many people at times of difficulty in their lives. I was often inspired by the resilience of the human spirit even during times of crisis.

A new Direction…

A change in my career direction began as a desire to earn a degree. This led me to the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where I completed a B.Sc. in Psychology. I then moved to England, where I pursued advanced degrees at the University of Manchester. I specialized in organizational psychology for my Masters and Doctoral degrees, and earned Chartered Occupational Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society.

Teaching and research then became the focus of my work as a university faculty member. I taught applied psychology related to work and organizations, and conducted research on stress in the workplace.

A Relocation …

After 10 years working in higher education, a family relocation brought me to the United States, initially on a temporary basis. When this became less temporary, it was time to reinvent my career!

In my coaching and consulting work today, I dedicate my time to helping clients manage change to achieve a better quality of life and greater success by finding ways to align their work and their lives.

I am certified by the International Coach Federation, and have completed coach training at Coach Academy Texas and the Career and Adult Development Network.

I currently reside with my family in the San Francisco Bay Area, California
